HOME ENERGY AUDITS
Home Energy Audits Save Energy and Money
If you are looking to save money on your utility bills, the first place to start is by conducting an Energy Audit. A home energy audit helps you learn how you use energy, determine where it’s being wasted and prioritize your efficiency upgrades. Making energy efficient upgrades identified in a home energy audit can save up to 30% on your monthly energy bills while also ensuring the health and safety of your home.
Your Home Energy Audit could even be free! The New York State Energy and Research Authority (NYSERDA) supports energy assessments at a free or reduced cost for many qualifying NY residents. Just visit the NYSERDA website, fill out the application and select Appolo Heating as your participating Home Performance Contractor. Find out more!
How Does A Home Energy Audit Work?
During an energy audit, your auditor will review your electric and heating bills and then they will inspect your home for ways to improve how your home uses electric and heating fuel. Often times we will use specialized tools such as a blower door and thermal imaging to determine how your home performs under certain stresses and to see where the energy is leaking out of the home. We will then make recommendations as to how your home can be improved. Often times that may require doing some air sealing, and/or adding insulation to your home.
Your home’s heating and cooling will typically account for approximately 40%-50% of your overall utility costs. It is imperative to ensure that the highest efficiency and performance of your HVAC system is achieved. We will review your current system and make recommendations about how to improve the overall efficiency while improving your comfort and indoor air quality.
