Safety First at Appolo!

Appolo Heating Vans in a parking lot

For the 3rd year in a row, Appolo Heating held its companywide safety day on February 20th. While safety is at the forefront of our operations every day, each year we take time out of our service and installation schedule for extended trainings on safety procedures and wellness for all of our employees.

General Manager, Marc Gladding had this to say in his opening remarks:

“Today is about a few things. First and most importantly it is about making sure that each and every one of you that works for this company – whether in the field or in our warehouse or in one of our offices – continues to go home safely to your family and loved ones at the end of every work day. I can assure you that for myself and the rest of our management staff, this is our number one priority.”

Representatives from our insurance providers were on hand to cover options in healthcare as well as the latest information on best practices regarding HVAC safety. There was high-level coverage on general job site rules, but some of the more granular topics covered included:

● Vehicle safety and defensive driving
● Equipment awareness
● Guidelines for personal protective equipment
● Injury prevention
● Asbestos safety

While many of these processes are a continual part of ongoing day-to-day awareness throughout the organization, we believe it’s important to bring everyone together and spend time focusing on good practices and overall health. That’s why our Safety Day also contains a personal wellness component where we do biometric screenings on site for our technicians.

Biometric screenings look at characteristics like weight, height, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, and aerobic fitness. These important tests can be used to help evaluate changes in health over time and offer the potentially lifesaving benefits of early detection of problems before they become much more serious.

We also wanted to take the opportunity to recognize our designated Safety Committee. This dedicated group of individuals was instrumental in organizing this event and are vital to helping us improve safety procedures and awareness every day.

This full staff gathering also gave us a chance to celebrate our 50th anniversary and all of the exciting events we have coming up. Additionally, it gave our Co-Founder and Residential New Construction Manager Donald Bikowicz a chance to address the group on our mission statement and core values.

These are the core principles that have allowed us achieve this milestone and will be the foundation we rely on as we work to achieve another 50 years in business. None of this would have been possible without our dedicated staff of employees, both past and present.

We know that as a company, we’re only as good as our employees and that’s why their safety is always our first priority. Our 3rd annual safety was a great success and we look forward to a successful 2018 and beyond.
